william schaffer- director
Prior to coming to Wright City in the Fall of 2000, Mr. Schaffer served as an educational consultant for Brook Mays Music and School Music Service from 1997 to 2000. He previously served as the Director of Bands at Elsberry in 1996-97 and Portageville from 1993-96. The 2012-13 school year marks the beginning of his 13th year in the Wright City R-II district. In addition to his duties as Director of Bands, Mr. Schaffer has been the High School Golf Coach for the last 10 years.
Mr. Schaffer received his Bachelors of Music Education Degree in 1993 from Southeast Missouri State University. While at Southeast, he studied conducting under Dr. Robert Gifford, Dr. David Green, and Mr. Barry Bernhardt. He was the trombone student of Dr. Gifford, Mr. James Erdman, and Mr. Jim Martin. He studied euphonium under Dr. Paul Kirk. Mr. Schaffer received the Master of Music Degree in Brass Performance from Arkansas State University in 1997. While at ASU, he studied trombone with Dr. Neal Bartee, euphonium with Dr. Bill Holmes, and trumpet under Mr. Richard Jorgenson. Mr. Schaffer spent 1986-1990 as a member of the US Army Bands, mostly with the 399th Army Band at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He has been an active drill designer and arranger for marching bands in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and Ohio for the last twenty years.

Emily Schaffer- Director
After teaching K-12 instrumental and vocal music for three years at the Delta R-V School District, Mrs. Schaffer joined the Wildcat Pride staff in 2007. She specializes in teaching woodwinds and is color guard sponsor. In addition, she maintains an active private studio, offering beginner lessons on all woodwinds and advanced lessons on clarinet and saxophone.
